Title: Wireless Video Coexistence Analysis

The market for wireless LANs is growing at an explosive rate. The ever increasing number of wireless LAN deployments in offices and apartment buildings means that the 2.4GHz ISM band used by IEEE 802.11b/g is becoming congested, leading to poor wireless experience for most of the users. The increased popularity of video transmission over wireless networks adds more challenges to the research community in order to deliver high-quality video to the users regardless of the other data traffic being transmitted at the same time. This project explores the possible effects on the performance of the network when real-time applications such as video streaming are transmitted simultaneously with data over the network. It considers the effect on the throughput and other performance parameters when video transmission is introduced in a network carrying purely data traffic.
